Kettlebell swing tabata

Full tabata with 25lb KB. Chris told me afterwards I was supposed to track my lowest number of reps per set for my score, which I didn't do. I got around 120 total.

100 air squats for time. 4:21. These sucked.

Get well soon, Dr. Crish The Elder!

WTG MEL! I especially like the idea of 100 air squats for time as a bench mark for progress.

I still don't understand why the lowest number is your score as opposed to total.
So if one person does 10 reps for all the rounds except for 3 in the last ans someone else does 4 reps every round they get a higher score?

I like the idea of 1 rep max as a benchmark but that may be playing to my strengths - ha ha
Actually I'm going to do the 100 one arm swings for time as one of my measures.

Sam - the lowest number is how Xfit scores this type of Tabata. I could not find an explanation why, but I'm guessing it's because the Tabata trains anaerobic/aerobic capacity rather than muscular endurance. So, go drink some more Nyquil and get over it.

Do you think that they score it that way so it's not disproportionately weighted in a series? Don't they usually have these in with a few other exercises and if you're scoring 12s and such in the other exercises then a 120 for tabata would be way different.
I will not get over it! There are a few things about CrossFit that I am opposed to - the overhead swing, minimal use of KBs, lack of bench press, and now their tabata scoring.
Although I'm still a fan because they are bringing full body movements and functional strength back. I bet more people are squatting and DLing now than anytime in the past few decades.
