You start w/80lb. less then your 5RM, and add 5lb./workout (2x/wk) for 8 weeks. So, the program goal is to be able to do 20 reps w/ weight that was previously your 5RM. However, if at any point in the 8 wks you cannot complete 20 reps, you do AMAP for that set, and continue to increase the load. Soooo, MY goal is to push it as hard as I can and be happy to wind up where ever I wind up!
My real goal is to convince Sam that "I don't know" is an OK answer.... Why would I pick a number other than my 5RM? If I pick some weight and it's below what I'm actually capable of, then I'm just tricking my brain into quitting early.
I don't know is a perfectly reasonable answer but don't you have any idea where you think you will stall out? I still don't understand why they picked a 5RM as opposed to a 10 or 8.

Have you set a goal with the squat workout?

Why is Chris so anti-intellectual? Does it have something to do with the paleo diet?
