Yesterday I visited my friend who is a personal trainer, and I let her train me. Today I had sore quads and hamstrings.
Last night I went to the climbing gym to boulder. I did
3 V0s
3 V1s
1 V2
and I worked on a V2, a V3, a V4 and a V5, but I wasn't able to finish them. I did feel strong at the gym, and that was nice. (Not being able to finish those problems is no big deal - they were really super hard.)
Today I worked out with another personal trainer.
Melanie - I like the pumpkin look and I appreciate the glossary. Thanks!

what's up with all the personal training yo? you all fancy and sh*t.
I'm not responsible for the pumpkin pie - i think we have Sam to thank.
i wish I knew more about climbing, but i'm sure it is appropriate to say 'rock on.' Get it? Rock on?
also, can you tell us what the trainer makes you do?
Wasn't me.
Yeah Karen, "personal trainer" isn't enough info for us muscleheads - what do you do?
Not only am I fancy, I am also quite mysterious.
Hmmm. Ok - you asked for it: We did lots of stuff. Today I did 90 lb lat pull downs - 2 sets of 10 with a 15 second hold at the end. 60 lb rows, same as above. I did sit ups with my shins parallel to the ceiling while holding a 25 lb weight. I'd put the weight behind my head as far as it could go, then bring the weight forward into a crunch and rest it on my shins. We alternated this with 2 sets of 12 of me putting a 25 lb wight on one side of a weight bench, then lifting it to the other - kind of like shoveling.
We do a lot with this fitness anywhere rig. I might have to get one. You use your own body weight.

So - I did 3 sets of 10 for each of these things - push-ups with my feet in the strap, rows with my hands in the straps and my back almost parallel to the floor, pushups with my hands in the strap instead of on the floor. Plank pikes - you put your feet in the straps, assume plank position, then pull your knees to your chest or go to pike position. We also did plank pikes the push ups alternatively. We did tricep extensions (Body moves from standing to a 45 degree angle, your hands are in the strap over your head), and one armed rows (in this case, your starting position is not parallel to the floor, it is at a higher angle. You point your free hand to the floor then lift yourself so you touch your hand that is in the strap). We also did some crazy oblique exercise.
See - isn't it better if I just say personal trainer? I bought 10 sessions with my friend because I got pressured into it and I am a sucker. I am glad I did it because I am learning a bunch of new exercises and I love the fitness anywhere thing. I think Chris Moran would really the fitness anywhere contraption. I won't buy more training sessions, and I think I have 5 sessions left.
"Rock on" is an acceptable, yet charmingly dorky way to praise a climber.
And with my friend on Tuesday, we did a bunch of other stuff, we pretty much lightly hit all my muscles. Walking squats, bicep curls, skull crushers, hamstring stuff with a bosu, situps and obliques on the bosu, flys and rows. Think 30 minute boot camp class. (I heart boot camp classes.)
wow. okay. i just looked at that device. we are buying rings, supposedly this month though maybe will wait for Santa, that we should be able to do a lot of that stuff on i think. just not 'anywhere.'
