Benchpress
65 x 6, 75 x 4, 80 x 2, 85 x 1, 85 x 1 (fail)
Deadlift
135 x 6, 155 x 4, 165 x 2, 170 x 1
Snatch balance
45 x 3 (these were ugly, non-locked out, and not full squats)
50 GH sit ups
50 GH back extensions
The failure on the bench was a true failure. I got stuck halfway up and then got pinned with the bar on my chest, and for once there was no one else in the weight area. I flagged down a girl who was walking over to the treadmills. "What do you want me to do?" she asked, looking around like she really wanted nothing to do with this. I asked her to pull the weights off of one end of the bar. "Well, what do you want me to do with them then?" The bar ended up tipping over and crashing on the floor. I'm guessing there are better ways of handling this situation in the future?

Holy Crap! Holy Crap!
How...why...how?
How the hell do you go to maximums on BENCH without a spotter?
Not safe, not safe, not safe!
I'm dumbstruck - I would have never recommended this scheme if I knew you were being this irresponsible.
Always spotter, always spotter, always spotter!
That comment may have been harsh because I was absolutely terrified when I read that post. All that comes form a good, caring place.
And pulling the weights off one side is not the best solution if someones there. Next time (which there will never be!!!) dump them yourself - if someone's there have them pull up on the bar as you push.
And I would normally compliment you on the awesome 85# BP but I won't this time.
You're scolding me! And I hear the caring in the scolding. I'm always by myself at HealthPlus, I never have a spotter. So how will I ever improve? I had done 80 before and it wasn't so bad, and the first rep of 85 wasn't so bad... Chris said next time (of course, now I know there shouldn't be a next time), I could roll the bar down to my waist and then sit up and roll it the rest of the way down.
all this leads me to believe that my strategy of leaving my weights at someone else's house is just good common sense.
Hey Melanie, do me a favor? When Chris gets back from his trip use one of your less-pretty-but-more-effective thai kicks on his leg as punishment for that terrible, terrible advice.
Don't roll your 1RM down your body.
Usually i try to temper Sam's outbursts, but i agree with him completely here. I'm going to tell you as one Buff-Girl to another Buff-Girl: when you play with the big weights, you DONT do it alone. We have the bench--you come to our house and do the bench. You'll always have a spot. 85lbs is a TON of weight and if you can bench that, you are only going to go up!!! I'm very proud of you for lifting that much weight, and as you get stronger, a spot is a MUST MUST MUST. You and i can do bench days together at my house from now on. Rolling the weights off and sliding out from under the bar only works when you lift pussy-level weights--which 85lbs is NOT. You need another Buff-Girl to help lift it off your chest or you will get hurt. So that is that. You are FORBIDDEN to bench alone.
OKAY!!
Just one question, can we get buff girl t-shirts to wear while we work on these benches?
This has been a good learning experience, truly.
