I hurt my head
So i decided to be a big girl and try the hand-stand pushups. Or just the hand-stand. Whatever at this point. I have a fear of tumbling--perhaps it came from one adolescent summer of practicing front hand-springs in my parent's over-run-with tree-roots back lawn, but i've been hesitant to summersault, tuck and roll, pike, or any such activity than messes up my center of gravity by putting my head below my moving body. Apprehensive as i was, i tried the hand-stand. My weak little T-rex arms could not support the weight of my ass apparently, because as I stood in hand-stand, my arms start bending, bending, bending until only my poor noodle is supporting said ass, torso, and legs. Sam was also terrible at spotting me during this, by the way. So i crushed my head, probably my brain with the weight of my body. Right over the somasosensory and motor cortices. Therefore, expect impairment in some of my abilities over the next week or so.

I have been too chicken to try the handstand. Huzzah to you! I'm sorry you hurt your head. Now I am thinking of trying it. I will let you know if I hurt my head.
When I decided to get back to trying HSPUs (did some years ago) I was also collapsing at first. Really focusing on locking out the arms and locking in the scapulae makes a big difference. Also, there's some good videos on the crossfit site on learning to handstand.
I've been wanting to work on these too. With a wall, I'm ok, but right now I can't balance myself in a handstand so I guess I should work on that first.
i was trying to tell Sam last night though he seemed not interested in listening to me on this point that the handstand progression is worse than the handstand itself. i can help you.
Pshaw! I was totally interested. In fact I talked about it with Christine before she did her handstands that night!
You may have been confused when I was humorously imitating Chris re: advice taking.
You should do a handstand technique clinic before this Saturday's wo. I recall you guys saying something about my junk (maybe it was hips) and I don't know what you meant.
